WHOA talk about out of line! You said NOTHING about anyone losing weight, being big, needing a certain dress type for their body, or anything whatsoever that would indicate that what she said was warranted. What a twit

I would take your business elsewhere and tell the manager why you are doing so..

@DuckEBee:  the clerk is stupid. I don’t see why she would even make that comment?

jerk. If I were you I would actually call the store back, ask to speak with a  supervisor to make her aware of the comment she made to you.

@FleeSircus:  +1, that’s what I was wondering. I don’t know what was said between “they have the same build” and “so you have to be thin to be your friend,” so I’ll reserve judgment.

@DuckEBee:  She’s the OWNER?!  That makes it so much worse.  I guess that rules out telling the manager.  I would say an honest Yelp review is in order though.  At least then maybe the owner will see that and realize that she needs to be more thoughtful before she speaks since it’s costing her business.

How rude!!! I can’t believe someone would say such a thing to anyone. Completely uncalled for.

I’d be tempted to say something like “No, you don’t have to be thin to be my friend but you do have to be respectful to do business with me!”

I just can’t believe that woman. If she treats all her clients like that she’ll be out of business soon enough.

@DuckEBee:  I would have walked out and not looked at a thing.  How incredibly rude!

That’s the kind of situation where I would have later contacted the store manager to inform her (or him) how her (or his) employees have represented that business.  That comment was completely out of line and not at all consistent with providing good, professional, friendly and helpful customer service.

I agree with prior posters that this employee obviously was transferring her own anger or insecurities to you and this situation.  That is not OK.

ETA:  Oops! Just saw your other post that this woman apparently is the OWNER.  Oh my word. SMH.
