another visit to my parents, ANOTHER detail of my wedding changes.
they said since they are paying, they would prefer chinese food at the wedding. since i’m anti chinese restaurant, i am looking for a hotel with on site chinese catering as my dad stated he doesn’t want an outside restaurant coming in.
what are my options? i know there’s the hilton in universal city, the westin in downtown LA, and the san gabriel hilton. the westin is out, as downtown LA is too crazy. i’m not a huge fan of the hilton in universal city, and i’m waiting for the menus from the san gabriel hilton.
my favorite venue so far has been the hyatt regency orange county but they don’t have the chinese catering in house/on site and most get it brought in from furiwa.

There are other venues that allow you to bring in outside Chinese catering. Try Castle Green in Pasadena.

- Wedding: August 2007 - An historic estate
i’ve been to events at the hilton in universal and san gabriel hilton. i far prefer universal city.
i went to a reception at triumphal palace in alhambra. it is a restaurant, but the decor is a little more contemporary, and the food was good.
lastly, i went to one at the embassy suites in anaheim, and they brought in really good catering. not sure from where, but that one had the best food in terms of quality.
sheraton cerritos also allows outside catering but doesn’t have on site chinese catering.

- Wedding: May 2018 - Rancho del Cielo, Malibu, CA
i believe there is also a hilton in arcadia that has chinese catering…i haven’t been there, but my Future Mother-In-Law went. she said it was pretty nice, but she liked the location of hilton universal city better…

- Wedding: October 2007 - Ceremony at a cement and stained glass cathedral and reception at a boutique hotel ballroom
I just went to a wedding at the Radisson in Newport Beach and the dinner was an eight course meal catered by a Chinese restaurant. pretty good food too. cocktail hour was hosted by the poolside. the room rate was really affordable for me and Mr. Eggplant as Out of Town guests (i think it was about $119 or so). The ceremony was held at liberty baptist church about 2 miles away. totally convenient!

and here’s a couple links for the couple’s wedding pictures:

thanks everyone so far!
i’m trying to work my Fiance over to see it my way and not offend my parents as they offered to pay, but he’s being super stubborn. he thinks if he gives in here, my parents will completely take over. i told him they won’t and i won’t let them, as the reception will be the most difficult part, and everything else i’m too opinionated for them to butt in on.

Communication is the key, just talk to your parents and let them know your thought. It can make things become easier for you. Happy Wedding Day !
