- Wedding: May 2014
Hello everyone, I’m new to Weddingbee but have been stumbling across posts here and there while searching for wedding venues. My fiance and I have been together for 8 years and the majority of our friends are married so we’ve been to a billion weddings and frankly we just want to have a fun party. We’re originally from WI so a lot of our guests will be from out of town. That being said the ideal venue is a place where we can do both the ceremony and reception. Being able to bring in our own caterer and having a good DJ are probably the biggest priorities for us.
The Catch- we are struggling with spending the money as it’s all coming out of our pockets. We both think it’s silly to spend a lot on a wedding, however it is important to celebrate. It would be great to find a venue for $3,000 or less (on a Saturday). I saw the Maxwell House in Pasadena is pretty reasonable, has anyone had any experience with them? We live in Orange County, but our ideal location would be Santa Barbara or Ojai, with Palm Springs coming in next. I think we’ll have around 120 people and we are aiming for April or May of 2014.
I have been researching so many options (i.e. estate rentals, hotels, restaurants, parks, etc.) that I feel like I am running in circles. It’s scary when you find a great venue and they say “$20,000 food and beverage minimum”, I don’t know if I could ever spend that kind of money on one day (and that doesn’t include photog, dress and suit, flowers, etc.). Maybe if I win the Powerball when it comes to CA on April 8th 😉
I’m hoping I can get a fresh perspective from you all. I welcome all opinions and advice, tell me if I’m being unrealistic in a search for a venue for $3,000 or less.
