Not totally ridiculous, but he likes the name Saffron for a girl. I don’t want to name my child after a spice.

Oh my lord, Mr. CP is insistent that we name a baby girl Jezebel. I DO like the name, but my grandmother is really Christian and would raise an endless amount of hell if we named our daughter after the Whore of Babylon. That, and I suspect she might get some grief from other people growing up. I like Isabel/Isobel as a derivative though.

I could go on for days. DAYS. But I’m sleepy and my brain is dead. These are the top ones I can think of.

Shalashoska (shall-uh-shaw-shka. WTF) He likes this for a boy and girl.

Azai (boy)

Azahn (boy)

Amethyst (girl)

@kgirl91:   I could almost (ALMOST) get behind Sephiroth as a baby name if the nickname wasn’t so feminine-sounding. Like you, my first thought when I heard it was that it was a shortened form of Stephanie!

@Mrs. Cherry Pie:   I actually really like the name Jezebel. It sounds pretty to me. (But I’m also not religious). I did read a book once where a character was named Jezebel and everyone called her Jessie, though.

@allyfally:   Amethyst is actually a really pretty girl name in my opinion. But I don’t think I would name my child Amethyst either.

Lucky for me, DH’s baby names haven’t been out there….although I do think he mentioned “Man” for a boy’s name once….weird b/c as I said, who wants to call a baby boy “Man?”

I had a girl’s name picked out w/my exH and it was my absolute favorite….regular girl’s name for the first and the middle name was my middle name.  Can’t do that now b/c BOTH names are the names of DH’s most recent exes!  His family would think I’m nuts if I did that!

You could always go the walking dead route and name your kid “ass kicker.”

Walking dead fans will appreciate!

My husband is a big gamer and had a few suggestions based on this. If we have a girl as our second child (just had a girl as our first and the rule we made up was if the first is a girl, I ultimately decided the name and if it were a boy, he decided the name…with the future second baby he now gets to ultimately decide regardless of gender) he really likes the name Karis (after a character in a game called Golden Sun) or Samus (after a character in the Metroid series of games). If we ended up with twins, he suggested Palom and Porum (after twins in a Final Fantasy game). He didn’t really have any nerdy suggestions for just a boy but I’m sure he could come up with something.

As an aside, I actually don’t hate the name Karis for a girl. It’s actually very pretty and I wouldn’t mind it so much. And Samus isn’t terrible but I’d probably suggest Samantha to him instead. Palom and Porum are just too “out there” in my opinion though. ;P

@Helloemi:  LOL as I keep shooting down Optimus Prime…he now suggests that “Little Ass Kicker” would be just as good.
