    mine has 4,  but with princess cut i dont think 6 would work,  4 adds to the square-ness

    @chasesgirl:  I think a 4-prong makes the center stone look a little square on okay-looking pictures; 6-prongs makes it look rounder (if it’s a round cut).

    Mine is a round solitaire with a 4-prong.

    I kinda fell in love with my ring before I even had a chance to think about 4 or 6 prongs, and I’m not sure which one I would have preferred at the time, but since mine is 4, I say 4 now 🙂 It seems like it is actually very secure, but I think it depends on the ring and the setting.

    If you’re looking for a prong setting, I definitely prefer the look of a 4 prong to 6 prong for smaller stones but with larger stones I don’t think the 4 vs 6 prong makes as big of a difference aesthetically.

    I voted “other”, however, because my heart truly lies with bezel and semi-bezel settings because they 1) sit very low (I’m a klutz and would probably damage a high setting, plus I wear gloves at work so fitting them over a ring was an issue), 2) they’re definitely more unique, I’ve never seen another bezel-set ring in person before and 3) they’re very protective for your diamond. I also think tension settings are really cool-looking, they look a lot like semi-bezels to me. Obviously all just my opinion, but my vote’s for bezel and I think they’re are totally underrated.

    Mine has eight, and I think it’s beautiful and different:

    I just haven’t figured out how to get a decent picture of it…

    Prongs are important in making a decision on your ring. I had a 7mm cushion cut smokey quartz with four prongs and it got loose all the time. You could hear it rattle! It was always in the shop.

    I saw a pretty cool design, although it is for a halo, I wanted to share it. Moissaniteco.com sells a vintage halo ring with multi prongs! That would certainly secure the stone for everyday wear!

    6 prongs…but like most everyone else said its really just a matter of personal preference! At the end of the day I just liked the idea of 2 more prongs there to keep my stone in place because I was horrified at the idea it falling out haha. But I really love the look of both 6 and 4 prong rings, although the different is subtle :]

    This is a bit unusual, but I actually have an EIGHT-prong solitaire, and I love it. 🙂 It’s actually set like a 4-prong, but each corner is double-pronged. I adore how unique it is.

    I always thought I’d want a 6 prong, but Fiance picked out a 4 prong & I love it. 🙂

    @rachelmichelle:  That is pretty!  I have never seen an 8 prong, I think it’s lovely!

     @letterlove:  Your ring is gorgeous!!

    Here’s my 6 prong Beauty.  I think 4 prong and 6 prong are both beautiful, I just personally enjoy the added security of those 2 extra prongs, lol.
