I wasn’t involved in the ring shopping process, so while Fiance got me a 4 prong, I think I might have prefered 6 prong! I find that if you’re getting a Round Brilliant diamond, a 4 prong can sometimes give the illusion of it being princess cut. Either way I love my ring, but I’d send my vote for 6 prong!

Another 6’er here! I’m not sure if my jeweler did something different or if I’ve just been staring at too many gorgeous rings for too long 😉 but my prongs seem to be a little smaller than others (?) The setting is rose gold so I actually would have loved if the metal were to show through more but also extremely happy with how it turned out!

Congrats, bee! I am recently engaged, and like you went ring shopping together with my future hubby. My e-ring is a 6 prong, and I must admit that starting the ring shopping process, I was more of a 4 prong kind of gal because I did like the minimalistic look of the 4 prong vs 6; however, once I fell in love with my setting, I didn’t even notice the additional prongs as prongs were honestly not even on my (personal) list of priorities for what I wanted my ring to look like.

The sales associate did mention to the Fiance and I that the 6 prongs would definitely be more secure (if one does happen to break, you’ll still have 5 more prongs on the top/bottom and sides holding it in the basket, as opposed to on a 4 prong where it would be a little bit less secure with a broken prong given less touch points for prongs keeping the stone secure). Since the prongs really didn’t bother me that much, I absolutely love my 6 prong ring. I also like the fact that the 6-prong setting is very classic in the fact that the Tiffany setting is a 6-prong.

I have a four claw prong east west setting. I think minimal prongs makes the diamond stand out more. It’s around a 0.9ct on ring size 4.5
