My SO and I have been looking at rings lots lately. I want a princess cut I think… but I do keep changing my mind. But my main concern is the height of the setting……
I’m basically just looking for some photos side-on of your rings – I want one where the diamond doesn’t stick up too much, but I don’t want one that’s set too low. It’s so hard to tell on pictures on the jewellers’ sites, so I was wondering if you guys had photos on your actual hand?!
This is the ring I’ve fallen for http://www.serendipitydiamonds.co.uk/detail.asp/sku=R1D044
I’d love any of your guys’ knowledgeable opinions on it?!!!
HUGE thanks!! 🙂 xxxxx

I think SO will probably order the ring I linked to, but I have time to change my mind before he does!! (After I’ve sought your expert opinions hehe!)
I think we’ll probably go for around 0.80 carats (we’re from the UK where 0.5 is considered pretty big!!) with a platinum band 😀

My setting is almost identical to that (except I have a pave band).
Here’s a pic from the side so you can see how high up it sits:
Sorry it’s so blury. Here are some others, but not on my finger:

It looks like that ring probably sticks down a lot lower than mine. Mine actually sticks up pretty high, but it doesn’t bother me. I’ve gotten used to it. Here’s some pics. Sorry if they’re huge!

Thanks for the pictures guys! It’s so useful to actually see the rings in “real life” so to speak!
Both totally beautiful rings by the way!!!
Keep the pictures coming girls – I know you’ve got loads of ’em. And everyone loves a bit of ring porn to pass the time hehe. (Whoever dubbed it “ring porn” is a total genius – I feel so guilty about trawling through the photos and whenever SO comes in I shut all the links hehe!)

Oh wow! The ring on the link is very pretty. I don’t have my ring yet 🙁 but I did just want to throw it out there that I think rings tend to look larger when they’re set higher. I would think they would be more likely to run into things though.
