I have a three stone, and I love the finger coverage it gives. I have big fingers (size 8), so I would need a huge solitaire to get any sort of finger coverage. It would have been doable in our budget, since my ring is morganite, but I think it would have just been gaudy to have a stone that big, regardless of what it cost. Here’s my ring.

I’m a size 7, I have a 1 5/8 carat (3/4 carat center stone) Neil lane ring.  I LOVE my ring!

I have a solitaire and I LOVE it. I just don’t really like the look of 3 stone rings..I don’t know why. I guess I like solitaires because you really just notice the center stone, which to me, is the prettiest part. I also LOVE my setting, though.

I love solitaires and three stones! But if you’re working with a budget (like most of us are!), I love the amount of bang you get with your buck with three stones. They have so much more finger coverage, and Fiance knew that would appeal to me!

My TCW is only a carat, but I think it looks like much more. It takes up practically the whole top of my finger.

Well, I realize someone bumped an old thread, but to answer the original question:

My husband chose my ring, it was a surprise.   I liked the look of solitaires, he liked three stone rings.   He bought this one, it has a 1/2 carat center and two thin baguettes on the sides, so technically it’s a three stone, but it still has the look of a solitaire, without the high setting (which most of the ones I had casually looked at were and I definitely didn’t want)

She’so classic from the top but I have a bit of rose gold details at the sides. i love the simple look of a solitaire but also love some bling so when hubby and I reach a milestone aniversary maybe we will add some side stones. He was originally thinking to propose with a three stone so the modification is still sentimental.
