I have relatively large knuckles and I have a 0.59 solitaire with a 2.5 mm band. I want to get a simple plain band of the same thickness to match but I’m worried that when I try on plain bands they look so small and not great on my wide short fingers! But I don’t want to go any wider as I then will get “muffin top effect” when both rings are on! which happens slightly even with just 2x 2.5mm. Can I please see all your size 6-8 fingers with plain band with/without solitaire?

here you go. I have three rings in my stack. I am a size N.

I have this same problem, too. I always feel like I have “finger muffin top”, even though my rings are actually loose. It’s because of the way my fingers are shaped. They are like little cones (narrowest at the top, and then progressively wider down toward my palm), so the widest part of my finger is where the rings sit. I’m a size 7 at the moment (down from a size 8.5).
I usually size my rings up a bit, as my fingers tend to get puffy in warmer weather. Plus, I hate how too-tight rings feel on my hand. For me, sizing up a bit kind of helps lessen the muffin top appearance. But it never really goes away. (Also, I’m probably the only one who really notices it in real life. LOL)
This is the only solitaire I have. The band on the solitaire is 2mm. The wedding band is 2.5mm.
RG band alone: (Sorry. It’s not a great picture, but the only one I have of the band solo.)
I also have a 3mm YG band. My RG band is comfort fit, but not very domed. My YG band is a heavy dome comfort fit, so it has a much more rounded look to it. I don’t have any pictures of it with a solitaire, though. I usually wear it with my original ERing (which is a 5-stone ring) or my anniversary ring (which has stones on the setting).

ah yes makes sense,
my fingers are similar shape. Mine are slightly sized up and I could go bigger with the band as the e ring will be on top, but then if I wore band on its own it will fall off! Really like the 2.5mm profile on your hand. I was thinking of getting comfort fit too. Thanks
