Congratulations! Very exciting!  Ring shopping is so fun and I’m a big fan of the wearer being a part of the process. My solitaire is white gold, but thin at 1.8mm knife edge, which makes it appear even thinner.  Most reputable jewelers don’t recommend going below 1.8mm for plain bands or 2mm for pave bands for durability.  Left pic shows my former 1.85ct (7.87mm), right pic is my upgraded 2.73ct (9.03mm). Ring size is 5.75. Hope This Helps

I don’t have a thin band or a solitaire so I won’t share my ring, but I agree with the above poster that it sounds like a knife-edge would be a good option for you, to make the stone look as large as possible!

Mines not a solitaire but it is a 2mm pave band which is the thinnest i would reccomend for pave, I have a size 8 3/4 finger and a 1.6 centre diamond 🙂

Here is mine: 2.14 carat diamond (about 8.3 mm) on a 2.2 mm band. The diamond band is 2.4 mm wide with 2 mm diamonds, just over half carat weight. My ring size is 6. Hope that helps! Good luck on your search!

I have a 1.15ct (6.85mm) diamond. The band is supposedly 2.5mm wide but it is a knife edge band and looks closer to 1.8-2mm wide. The ring is a size 5 for reference!

I have a 1.56 ct diamond on size 4 finger. I recently re-set my diamond to a  6 prong 2.8mm knife edge band and my wedding band is just a plain 2mm band. Really makes the stone pop!

My previous setting was a 4 prong, very thin 1.5mm band (which is very thin and I would not recommend going that thin)

Be sure to try on/wear a knife edge band before you order your setting. Some people – including me! – find them very uncomfortable.

I have  a 4.04ct  diamond on a 2mm band.  My finger is a 5.5. Hopes this helps.  Excuse my hands I’ve been painting.

0.6ct on a knife edge platinum band 1.2mm tapering out to 1.6mm. The knife edge makes it sturdier.

I have a 1.06 diamond in a 4 prong knife edge setting that is 2 mm. It’s more of a soft edge so it’s very comfortable. My wedding band is also 2 mm. The diamonds only go halfway around. Good luck!
