Your ring is so pretty! That is such a neat thing to do and I would’ve loved to do that!!! I have a plain band with my solitaire but I also switch it up and stack it or just wear the diamond band with it. Here some pics of some ways I wear it: with a twisted band and hammered band stack, bezel set salt and pepper diamond band, and a flat matching band.

I LOVE the idea of handmade wedding rings. That’s such a cool story. Perhaps you could see how you like wearing the plain band with your (stunning, by the way) solitaire, and if you’re itchy for more bling, either add a 3/4 eternity band or upgrade to one for an anniversary or something.

I personally prefer a little sparkle on the band if it’s a solitaire engagement ring, but both being plain also looks nice and classic. No wrong answer, really.

I’m wearing an antique band that my stepmother gave me. It’s slightly irritating that it doesn’t match and I am going to get something with a little more sparkle eventually but this works for now. Your ring is beautiful, by the way.

Love your ring and think your idea of making wedding bands is perfect! I too have a plain band.

What about both? Get a plain band that you can wear with the e-ring AND alone, and get a sparkly one too! I love having a plain band to wear, and having your Fiance make it is soo special

I LOVE plain bands. My grandma had a plain band and until she had to get surgery on her hand a few years ago, she hadn’t removed her band for 52 years. I love that idea and it certainly wouldn’t be possible with a pavé style.

Where I am from it has been pretty trendy to make your own wedding bands. I know quite a lot of people who have done that. In another life I made one myself for my ex. (I was in dentistry school and it was en vouge to make rings in your spare lab time). I’d show you a picture but it was way before cellphone cameras.

My daily wedding band is an eternity band but I had two wedding ceremonies rolled in one and my jewish wedding band is plain. It is supposed to plain and free of stones to represent eternity and a smooth, bump free marriage. I like the symbolism behind it. It’s also a very convenient piece of jewelry. No dirt and lotions ever get stuck in it and it’s very comfy.

I love the idea of making each other’s bands. I wanted something sparkly for my wedding band at first, too, but then decided I’d rather have a set that matches my husbands ring (brushed white gold with a strip of hammered yellow gold down the middle) and get a big sparkly band for an anniversary or special occasion in the future. Here’s my set!
