I used the placeholder setting my Fiance proposed with and turned it into this wedding band! I looked into a make your own wedding band place as well – I think that’s so cool and would mean so much! I ended up buying a sparkly moissanite band that I normally wear, but I like having the sentimental band too. We used this one during the ceremony, and it’s not one I’d ever replace!

Thanks ladies I think the best idea is to go for both options. Not sure how Fiance will feel about me having two rings instead of one but such is life 😂

Can you get your sparkly wedding band and you guys go in together to make his plain band? I have experienced ring regret and in the process now of an upgrade just a year after getting engaged, so I would highly caution against getting a ring that’s not quite what you want just because of the story behind it. Maybe you’ll learn to love the plain band, but if not you’ll either be unhappy or have to change it later.
Here’s my new ring, currently empty plain band engagement ring next to 0.5 carat 7-stone wedding band, and a photoshop example showing a diamond in it (it’s being set now, won’t have it completed until next week.)

I have the same-ish dilemma as you OP! I think I am going to get the thinnest platinum plain band I can get possible, and then upgrade in future. My Fiance is pretty traditional so he doesn’t like the idea of a diamond band (but ultimately doesn’t care which is annoying because if he was more resolute I wouldn’t even consider a diamond band).

I ordered a pretend sterling silver ring from Ebay – quite like it actually!

peach11 : It looks amazing and so classy. You can always get a pave anniversary band in the future to stack.

I was planning on getting a plain platinum band but wanted to try on some other options just in case and I managed to find something that is plain but also with a bit of sparkle too which I wasn’t expecting. I also managed to find a shaped band that worked perfectly with my pear!

MiaSuperstar : I love how your plain band looks with your ering. It’s so striking and simple and really makes your ering pop.
bubbly2018 : Every time I see your set, I drool. I love the two delicate yellow gold bands flanking your ering band. So elegant and lovely.

peach11 : putting a sterling silver ring next to my ering to test it out is how I ended up completely changing my plans for my set. I couldn’t stop looking at it.

I actually think I prefer the plain band?! But maybe that’s just because the cheap CZ pave isn’t the exact style I would choose 🤔
Hmmm food for thought. At least I know I would be happy with a plain band if we go ahead with the ring workshop.

Here’s my 3mm width wedding band with my 1.8mm tapered engagement ring. I love the plain set look! So comfortable, classic, and just gives off the married look IMO 🙂

I also agree. I had my rose gold band custom made and my fiance wanted me to get something with some added bling so I got a small channel. I get married in April and just got both of my bands in this week. I really like the look of the stack but since they can both be turned around to be plain I have to admit I almost like the look of the plain bands better! And I LOVE tha you have the ability to make each others. That is super cool.
