Well I have decided to leave the design of my e-ring to Fiance. He knows I like solitaires, simple clean look. I like when there is something going on in the side view. So, I do like the ones I’ve seen with the surprise or peek a boo stone. I have been lusting after some bee’s ring that has a pink sapphire one. I think my Fiance is going to try for a ruby peek a boo(we have a round diamond for center stone). I haven’t been able to find an image of ruby peek a boo solitaire- im worried the stone will be too dark for a peek a boo. What say you bees? I am excited to wear something the love of my life has chosen, but surprised that google image search has failed me! Can anyone help?

Mine is a sapphire peekaboo. Sometimes you can’t really see the blue in the stones, but other times you can really see it. Our jeweler did use lighter coloured sapphires. I don’t think a ruby would be too dark especially not if you went with a lighter coloured ruby.
Oh and if you go the custom route you should have no problem doing this. My ring is custom and we could have had any stone we wanted put in the peekaboo. There’s actually a sapphire on each side..

@futuremrste: Oh I love that! Blue sapphire would be another choice I would have, I love blue sapphire and diamond. Yours is beautiful, have you chosen your wedding band yet?
I hope the jeweler will tell him to use a bright red ruby, I guess that’s my main concern. But your setting is what I am hoping to have too :). Its gorg!
Also I love your diamond :).

@squishee: Thanks! We went with sapphire because it’s my birthstone. Plus it’s a more traditional engagement stone. Sapphires were common for engagement stones before DeBeers had their whole “A diamond is forever” campaign and they’re a symbol of truth, faithfulness and fidelity. For a wedding band I’m going with a simple channel set band, probably with diamonds either 1/2 or 3/4 the way arounf (I don’t want them to go all the way around so that it can be sized easier). Oh and blue is my favourite colour.

This is the website for the designer who made my e-ring and wedding ring. He does amazing work at very reasonable prices, and many of his designs feature “hidden” stones. Take a look:
I’m thrilled with my rings and get so many compliments on them.

My solitaire has a surprise diamond under the head. I honestly don’t even think about that little diamond. I forget it is there. Here is the worst picture ever of a surprise diamond. (Surprise! My ring needs to be clean and photographed in better lighting :))
