My 1st ring was a princess cut with side stones and I hated it! (and it actually was the same ring as my first engagement ring) So Fiance was MORE than happy to go return my ring and got me a gorgeous solitaire. SOOOOOOOO happy now!!

If you love both round and princess cut, maybe you could go with a 4 pronged round brilliant.  The four prongs give it a square look from certain angles, but it’s still round, especially from the top.  Here’s mine (I don’t have a good pic yet – this is a really crappy quality photo and huge apparently!):
