Everyone likes different styles so it definitely wouldn’t be my place to tell someone I’m not diggin their dress. Now that I see people just leave the posts of dresses they don’t like though… I fear my dress may be one people didn’t like. =/

I usually don’t respond. I figure a close friend/family member will give them an honest assessment. Unless they specifically ask for an opinion or vote, IMO, they just want to hear how beautiful they look. So I will either say how pretty it is, or if I don’t agree, nothing.

Ok now y’all have me thinking. No one really said anything about my dress, but I had already bought it before I found the hive. I so hope you are not talking about me!! Arghhh. lol
But I know what you are saying if she has the dress and is thrilled then I am thrilled for her but I have never said anything rude about a dress. If it’s multiple choice question and there is a poll then I don’t mind adding my two cents.

I thought the same thing! I kept thinking, “I promise my dress looks better in person!”
Like everyone else said, it depends if they’re asking for an opinion.

Yeah once they’ve already bought it it’s like, what are they supposed to do? So no point in saying anything negative…

@itshouldsnow I know what you mean. I really like my dress but my mom just let it slip she thinks it’s a bit simple but I looked so happy after hating so many dresses she didn’t want to hurt my feelings. Well it is simple compared to a lot I have seen but it is elegant to me.

If its a YAY! I AM EXCITED! Post, I would not comment, other than a ” congrats!”
If its a What do you guys think? post then my opinion is fair game.
I do however think that there is a right and a wrong way to say things.
Ex. You look like a cupcake. Vs. There is a lot of poof going on on the bottom, prehaps take a layer of tool out?

I would offer suggestions if there’s a part of the dress they’re not sure about, but I’d never tell someone they look terrible or they made a mistake in what dress they chose. There are plenty of dresses I’d never wear due to personal preferences, but if they’re happy who am I to be fashion police? We don’t all pick the *perfect* dress for our body shape… sometimes people just want to wear what they like! And with all the alterations available, many things are fixable.
I am having a hard time coming up with a dress I thought was just awful. It’s true we don’t all have the same taste, but most girls pick pretty well! 😀
And having been through dress anxiety, and its unrational torment on the mind and body, if I can offer a little bit of peace of mind and confidence to a future bride, I will!
