I am having an anniversary party for my parents in May. It will be a lot like a wedding reception. I am having a hard time because I wouod normally ask my Mom for advice with this stuff, but it is a suprise. So here are my questions:
1: Should I have a card box? Do you think guests will bring cards/gifts?
2: Their favorite song is by Paul Davis, “Sweet Life”. I wanted to have a sign on the dessert table that says “Livin’ such a sweet life”, but how should I do that?
3: I wanted to put the same line on the bags for the candy, should I ask my SIL Mom to write it? She does calligraphy.
4: Would it be dumb to have the table named with their favorite songs, and underneath have a table number? The escort cards would have the table number.
Thanks in advance for any responses. I really want to make this amazing for them!

Yes, some people may bring cards.
Oh, well you could do a sign in several ways, depending on what other decor you have planned. Ex: You could write it on a chalkboard, you could write it on a mirror, you could have it on paper and frame it, you could make it from a fabric pendant. 🙂
You could ask your SIL’s mom if she wouldn’t mind, or you could get a rubber stamp made.
For the tables I would either do the table # or their favorite songs for the “table names”, you don’t have to do both.

We threw my ILs a surprise anniversary party a couple years back and it was SO awesome!
Everyone brought at least a card and some brought gifts.
What about just putting the sign in a picture frame?
You can ask your SIL’s mom if you don’t think she will give the secret away or you can just print it out at home with a calligraphy font.
I think just name the tables of the songs and no numbers!
I was just laying in bed the other night and thinking about how awesome of a anniversary party we can throw them in our new house. We have a huge backyard now so I’m envisioning a night time garden party with string lights and all. Maybe for their 45th or 50th since they just celebrated their 40th.

Thanks for the help ladies! I wasn’t sure about just using name for the table numbers because I have heard that some people find it difficult to find their table that way. I might do a chalkboard for the sign. I could also embroider the phrase and frame it. Thanks for the ideas. Do you know where to get a custom stamp? That would be the easiest idea.
I have been having such a good time putting this together. I know 35 years is kinda odd to do a big party, but my Dad has some complications from diabetes, and I am afraid if we wait till their 40th that he won’t be able to dance.
The restaurant where we are having it is pretty modern. But my Mom loves anything vintage, so I am doing the inside centerpieces vintage with milk glass and colorful doilies on black tablecloths with candles. The patio will have golf centerpieces. I’m just going to get some sod and put it in clear bowls and stick something golf in it. Thanks for listening/helping!
