We had an outdoor ceremony. There was a rain backup plan. If it rained we would have the ceremony under the covered porch at our venue (or have it inside in the reception area). Microphones were not needed according to the venue because the mountains around us actually created some amplification. No complications that I was aware of happening.

Talk with the coordinator at the venue. If they host a number of weddings each year, they should be able to give you an idea of things that have worked in the past and things that haven’t. ๐Ÿ™‚

Since you asked for photos, this was our amazing venue in North Carolina-Claxton Farm. ๐Ÿ™‚

1- fingers crossed this doesnt happen but if it doesn we will either move the ceremony to our church or just get married where we are having our reception.

2- Not married yet but we will be using microphones just to be safe.

3- Like #2, not married yet, but make sure to let your guests know it’s outside so they dress accordingly and don’t wear heals if they would rather not walk in grass. Also, watch out for insects if they are around during your wedding.

good luck!

I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s outdoor wedding in June. They didn’t have a backup plan and it poured the day before!!!! Thank goodness it was beautiful weather on the day!! Mics were absolutely necessary, and people still didn’t hear them exchange their vows. We didn’t experience any complications, except for our shoes being destroyed and impossible to walk in!! If you do an outdoor, do yourself and your ladies a favor and buy the little things that go on heels to make walking in grass and rock easier.

We tested everyones voice and no mic needed for our small wedding but we did have one available. Our back up plan was in a small room adjascent to our dance floor and we had our rehearsal in there since it was raining hard the day before. Ask your venue when you need to make the call for them to have time to move chairs and decor. Our non pro pics of the setting right after the wedding. Also keep in mind where you will be signing documents we had to watch the wind forcast to decide to sign inside or out.

We are month twins! I am planning a garden wedding as well. We do have an on-site building for the reception. We will move the cermony indoors if it rains. We are planning for 125 guests and will have microphones as a precaution.

I would inquire if your venue sprays for bugs prior to the ceremony. Ours uses an industrial sprayer the day before to ensure no bugs are around the day of the ceremony. Also, an aisle runner is difficult outside. I never planned to have one, but not having one was the #1 piece of advice from my coordinators because it is so difficult to keep it down. Last thing shoes……my girls are wearing thong sandals because some of the lawn is slopping and there is a cobblestone walkway. There dresses are long/chiffon so no one will really see their feet anyway plus they can dance comfortably. If they wear heels I would suggest low heels/wedges. Also, high heel protectors (solemates) just in case their and/or your heels may sink into the ground.

Hope this helps and happy planning!

1. we had a caoule tents (just incase) luckily it was beautiful but it was still nice for the shade.

2. we had mic’s if we didn’t no one would have been able to hear anything we had about 250 guests.

3. the only thing that happend that i wasn’t planning on was it was soo WINDY! our table set ups kept gettting blown off so we had to tape everything down that was my big stresser! but thats about it!
