Ever since I tried on the Justin Alexander 8558 I’ve become obsessed with lace dresses now. This from someone who would never have worn a doily item in her life.
I went on Etsy to see what is there for vintage wedding dresses and all the 50’s lacy ones I like have a size 25 waist 🙁 I’m not sure what mine is – no tape with me, but it’s not that and even while I could not eat for 9 months and get it that size the rest of me would look sickly. Why do I like the things I can’t have darn it!!
Anyone else having roadblocks with a style you never thought you’d go for and NOW YOU WANT IT MORE THAN ANYTHING?!?!

You can have mine if I can have someone else’s C boobs! 🙂 Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but keep in mind that those vintage waists are usually measured at your natural waist which is smaller than a jean size you would wear. It’s the narrowest part of your waist above your belly button. So there might be a big difference. I’m 24.25 at my natural waist but 26 where I would measure my waist for jeans. Don’t forget that if you found something you could like, you might be able to get a good tailor to reproduce the look. I ended up with a lace dress, it was surprising to me too. 🙂

I feel you! I have more of a “rectangle” shape, meaning that my waist has never been tiny. Even at my smallest, my waist was 28 inches when my bust and hips measured about 36.

Vintage dresses are also measured for wearing a corset underneath! Keep that in mind.

While you’re on etsy check out some of those tremendously talented seamstresses who make custom vintage dresses. I’m sure they can reproduce any look you want.

@Bubalou: I’d be willing to consider trading for an offer of a solid B chest, not even a C. Sigh, A-/B+ used to be a good grade in school….

lol!! You bees are funny and great – helpful and humourous responses, great way to launch into a Friday afternoon of work (by work I mean trolling etsy some more…ssshhh…)
And good to know I’m not the only getting sucked in by the lace loveliness!
