@KatyElle:  It’s also harder for guys… the worst part of it is when it enters the uretha because that is such a small, inflexible tube. And, well, guys have a longer way for it to travel in that tube than girls do…

I’m sorry girl!  Have you gone to a nephrologist?  I had 4 stones at once (3 in one kidney and 1 in another) and I ended up having to get them to go in a break them up.  The stones themselves hurt a bit when they were rolling around in my kidneys and I think I might have passed one but after they broke them up, they were just powder and didn’t hurt.

Future Father-In-Law is passing a kidney stone so big right now they had to do surgery and a sonic blast to break it up. My dad also had one, and my strong police officer dad was doubled over in pain in tears. So yeah, probably worse than a baby from what I’ve heard.

For me, my benchmark was (sorry, TMI) if I was throwing up from the pain, or dry heaving. That was my sign to go. Since this is the first time you’ve had one, you may want to go, just to get anything else ruled out. My cousin thought she was having one once…hers ended up being an ectopic pregnancy.

I hope you’re feeling better soon!

I had kidney stones during my last pregnancy. I thought I was in premature labor. It honestly felt like back labor.

Orange juice…I now drink orange juice or lemon juice several times a week. The citrus helps break up the calcium. I haven’t had any stones since then and I am hoping to keep it that way.

I had kidney stones, I remember feeling the pain in my back then as it moved down I felt it along my sides, then in front as it moved to my bladder. Terrible. My dr at the time said they can occassionally be caused from having repetative UTI’s. So since then I take a lot of care to prevent these or treat them immediately.

But when I was pregnant my daughter LAID on my kidney. It was excrutiating. It was so bad they gave me morphine, and it made me itchy so I took benedryl and I don’t remember the last month of my prgnancy I was so loopy.

Keep drinking water, get comfy, and think happy thoughts.
