You might want to say something to someone so that it is documented.  You don’t want to be accused of copying yourself!

Someone did that to me once too. I had posted mine on the first day, and they posted theirs like an hour before the deadline. It was SO obvious that they had just copied it. The professor noticed though, so I’m sure they will in your case as well. It’s just so annoying that someone thinks that is okay!

That’s so annoying!  I hate when people can’t do their own work.  I have had similar problems before.  The thing was, one of my closest friends used to basically imply that because I was smarter and understood the material better, it would be wrong for me to not help her out. Say what?!  You bet I didn’t let that fly but it still irks me!

@everyheart:  As an instructor, I think you did the right thing contacting the professor. They would have likely noticed the similarities and if your submission was timestamped that does help. The professor may want to talk with you about the assignment, but since you did the work any of the questions they ask should be easy to answer.

Don’t stress over it. Sadly, professors deal with this sort of thing all of the time.

What does your school’s honor code look like?  I’m glad you said something.

It’s a good thing you said something. Just because her time stamp was after yours doesn’t mean that dishonesty wasn’t involved with both parties. For example, it could mean you two worked together on what I assume is an individual assignment.
