Jeez! Do people not have better things to do with their time? Shaming someone for their ring is ridiculous. Honestly, if you have enough time to be catty and post on a ring shaming site, you should volunteer at a homeless shelter or other worthy endevour. Perhaps that would put life in perspective.

i’m shocked on multiple levels.  but mostly that it was your mom’s friend that posted it to the group.  i hope when your mom said she “took care of it” means she is no longer friends with that person.  i wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who hurt my child in anyway.

Who cares? It’s a beautiful ring and it’s none of their business.

You did the smart thing by making your ring customized. Your ring was probably posted by someone who got a ring from Zales and regretted it.

Ring designs aren’t copywrited. There is no shame in getting inspiration from one design and trying to make it your own. Many jewelers will encourage you to do that. It is NOT the equivalent of trying to knock off a purse and passing it off as an Hermes or a Louis Vuitton. You’re not running around pretending you have a Zales ring, or showing off a fake Zales logo on your ring.

People are so cruel. I do feel that rings, weddings, and the like bring out the worst in people, especially insecure women.

Honestly, I wouldn’t take the bait.  But you already did by signing up to the group and “defending” your ring.

Only very insecure people bad mouth other people’s happiness about trivial matters such as what a ring looks like. This is evident to anyone who has been around the block a few times.

I don’t know your mother’s friend’s age, but I would be surprised to discover that middle aged ladies are avidly participating in shaming sites about engagement rings. The people I know at this age are well past this kind of juvenile pettiness and are out living their own lives.

Plus, is she insinuating that a Zales ring is a luxury product like Tiffany? This is too weird at every level.

lemonsandlife71 :  I just found your ring on a different post before seeing this post. I was intrigued by its uniqueness, and amazed at seeing a ring look like a snowflake! Your ring is gorgeous and I cannot believe anyone would have anything negative to say about it. Sure, it may not be eveeyone’s cup of tea, but to have anything mean to say about it is unthinkable.

It must take a real miserable bitch to intentionally go through the effort to start a thread making fun of something that symbolizes one of the happiest aspects of someone’s life.

I have to say, this thread kind of makes me chuckle because I remember the Heather Barnes saga of a couple of years ago that multiple people here were involved in.

You guys weren’t all anti ring shaming back then? 🤔🤔🤔

co_katherine :  Eh, I think I see more meanness on Facebook and here than Reddit (although I agree Imgur is bad). Generally the Reddit mods are on top of things if you’re in the right sub.

OP, I’m sorry you had to find out about this, but just know that you’re ring is fun and reflective of your relationship! This person needs to find more happiness in their life, and it’s sad that they think bringing someone down will build them up. 🙁

Iagree. People are so mean and it’s unnecessary.

However designers can get a design patent or a trademark for a design. So it absolutely can be that a design is stolen.

OP your ring is beautiful.  I’d probably bug your mom a bit to see if she talked to her “friend” because that’s pretty awful.
