I’ll be honest…I think it’s hilarious that the dumb bitches are shaming a ring of better quality and design. While raste is subjective of course, it’s a gorgeous ring. They clearly know very littile about jewelry that they think there’s room to be bitchy given the low quality diamonds box chains use. If it were me I’d join the group and give them some education…there’s no arguing the 4 Cs.

lifeisbeeutiful : OP has stated a couple of times now that she wasn’t part of the site, that her mom sent her a screen shot, letting her know her ring was featured. Also, that her mom liked to try and defend the rings being ‘shamed’.

The outrage started when she posted her “custom” ring, but some people here found that it was really a build-your-engagement-ring from, I think, Walmart and it devolved from there.

I can only imagine the petty, small minds that would be in a group like that. With horrible attitudes like they have there’s zero hope of them getting an engagement ring of their own so they have to bash others.

OP, I saw your post on Reddit and gave it an updoot. Frankly, the design IS pretty. Disney or not. I happen to really like the Jasmine ring that is two-toned with a pear topaz and considered doing a version of that with a sapphire or higher quality stones, based on how successful you were with your recreation. I’m not sure what their problem was. There are a whole collection of women who also like and appreciate Disney inspired rings, or Disney wouldn’t marke them to Zales.
And Zales charges a fortune for SI2 or lower quality stones.
You were smart. And, you followed what appealed to your design asthetic, artistic eye and the sentimentality of your upcoming wedding. I see nothing wrong.
So: popular style of ring – check.
Embraced your personal style: check.
Took something you liked and put work into it to increase the quality: check.
There’s nothing dumb about what you did and at best, they don’t personally like your style (that is the case with all of us because we each have our own style so something isn’t going to be our cup of tea all the time) or don’t understand why you would upgrade the quality of the stones (why that would be a good thing is self explanatory).
Sorry your brand new ring was tainted by people acting ugly. There are worse rings on Reddit, and I’ve spent money on far more foolish things than upgrading the quality of something I found beautiful. I thought you were very clever and the ring was well executed.

I waiver between disgust and amusement at the idea that forum exists to shame women’s engagement rings. Out of my married coworkers who actually wear a ring my is the smallest at .50 carats and I just don’t give a shit. People really are cruel and childish.
