I have a somewhat awkward question, how do people go about getting the “something borrowed??”
Obviously someone would offer, i miagine the mother or family of the bride.
In my case, my family is Hispanic and we don’t do a lot of the same traditions. But I grew up in hte U.S. and do want to do the American traditions. Anyone have any ideas about how I could go about asking? Do I ask my mom? friends? my FIL?
Eek, I hate asking for things, even if as in this case, they are borrowed

@HourThyme: I would just ask maybe your mom, sister, aunt. Does you mom or any female family members have maybe a ring or bracelet you could borrow? Do you have any firneds that recently got married…..if so I am sure they would have something!

@HourThyme: we are borrowing colors from my parents wedding, your FH could wear a family members watch, my friend borrowed my purfume, there are tons of things you can borrow without having to ask for them. 🙂
Edit: you could borrow flowers your parents used in their wedding, maybe a song they used?

I wore a wedding set that belonged to my grandmother on my right hand. Technically, it was borrowed from my mom, but I also used it as my something old. (It’s the ring with the 3 stones in the picture.)
I also had a friend lend me a brooch that belonged to her grandmother. I pinned it on my dress. I don’t have a good picture of it, but I wore it in the middle of the bow for a little extra bling.

@Girasole: Actually, we are using the flowers my parents used. Can that count?
Hehe, I guess I always wanted to borrow jewelry.. But no one in my family had wedding jewelry or really much jewelry to speak of. the one exception is my mom and I swear I am not really complaining about this, but there is no way she would let me “borrow” anything. No, that generous woman, would give them to me! haha, silly complaint huh? But I really do like the idea of true “borrowing,” you know, the kind where you give it back!

I just asked my mom to borrow her pearl earrings. If she cant find them I will think of something else.
