Honestly, based on some of the arguments I’ve had with my husband and talked about rationally later, I don’t think your fiance meant to insult you.  I don’t think he believes you’re materialistic.  It was just something dumb that popped out of his mouth and happened to be a sensitive issue for you.

@dlbaqua:  I remember my ex had asked me to choose between 3 honeymoon destinations. I chose one. Then he said “The one you chose will cost us around £1200, the other one will cost around £1000 and the third one, £875. My saving is around £750. Now you decide.”

I got so pissed, I said if you know you have this much saving then why did you give me the options? Obviously I’ll choose to have a £300 honeymoon with that kind of saving. But he kept saying that he didn’t mean that I needed to choose a cheaper destination. Men can be so tiresome at times.

@dlbaqua:  I think you’re probably reading too much into it.

@dlbaqua:  Yup. Manspeak is awfully difficult to understand.

I think he meant he only wants to get you a ring that will make you happy. It has nothing to do with size or cost.

PSA- There is no hard evidence as of yet of basic life on either mars or venus, so I don’t think it’s possible that men and women are from different planets ^_~

I don’t think I’d be upset if my fiance said what yours did. I think you just read too much into it.

You’re engaged! Don’t sweat something that wasn’t meant in a hurtful way. 😀 Be happy!

I think he was just trying to say that he would have done whatever you indicated that you wanted in terms of a ring. I don’t think he’s trying to insinuate that you are materialistic at all.

It really doesn’t sound like he meant anything by it, and I don’t think he was calling you materialistic.
