@Principessa Bunny:  I think traditionally the bride was given these items, but I don’t think it seems to matter much nowadays how you go about it. Of course, I can’t assume if our relationships are the same, but if I’m certain that if I asked my mother/sister/future mother-in-law/future sisters-in-law for something ‘Borrowed’ or ‘Old’, they would be more than happy to lend me something.

My mother gave me a pair of earrings made with diamonds from one of my grandmother’s rings; these will be my ‘something old’.

I plan on doing a combo with my ‘something borrowed’ – a fine gold necklace from Mum and a pearl pendant from future mum-in-law to go with it; I’ll have to ask first, but no problem either way.

My ‘something new’ is something FH will be buying for me – my dress!

Haven’t decided on anything blue yet, though… What about you? What ideas have you thought of so far? 🙂

Blue is one of my wedding colors, so I went with it in my look also. I will have blue shoes and blue jewelry. Some of my bouquet flowers should be blue too.

My something borrowed is one of my grandmother’s wedding sets (she had multiples) from my mom.

My something new is pretty much everything else: dress, slip, hairpiece, wedding band…

My something old, I’m not exactly sure. I guess my grandmother’s wedding set could do double duty. I’m also using a clutch that I’ve had for a few years now, so maybe that counts?

Old: grandmothers wedding ring

New: shoes

Borrowed: see item five

Blue : belly button stud

And a sixpence in her shoe: a friend is lending me the sixpence she was given for her shoe for her wedding, so borrowing the last part of the rhyme.

I am debating as to whether or not a blue pedicure would clash with purple shoes… lol  Any help on that one?

Old – charm bouquet with pictures (the old) of my grandparents and FI’s mother on their respective wedding days

New – dress

Blue – see above ;P

The borrowed will likely not happen 🙁  Seems like that’s the tough one!

I’m just worrying about the items myself. Thought it would be easier that way.

Old – I’m going to ask family if they have something small of my grandmother’s who I never got to meet that I could attach in my bouquet. If not, I’ll ask my godmother for one of my godfather’s old handkerchiefs.

New – dress

Borrowed – Will be the same as my old item.

Blue – shoes

old my mom gave me her diamond from her engagement ring on a chain OR my great grammas hanky

new jewelry, shoes, dress

borrowed is my current sticking point. fmil offered tho!

my FH’s dad died last week. I asked for / was given a blue shirt that I will have a local girl cut into a heart for the inside of my dress with his initials and have a larger backed version on a pin for my love to pin inside his jacket. I was stuck on my blue and he didnt want blue toe nails (might still happen).

and i was sent a sixpence!

Something Old: Jewellery my late mother gave to my Gran as a gift – it was given to me for my 21st (much to the annoyance of my younger sister!)

Something New: Dress and shoes

Something Borrowed: Unknown, maybe a veil?

Something Blue: I was hoping to get a blue sash to wear around my waist but I’ve been a bit lazy and haven’t looked yet…eek!

Old: My vintage dres & my great grandmother’s e-ring

New: My wedding jewelry, including my gorgeous and (new to me) e-ring

Borrowed: Still working on this.  I was going to borrow my Mum’s handbag when I had a different idea in mind for my dress, but it won’t match the dress I ended up buying… I have 4 sets of ear piercings, so possibly a pair of earrings from someone.

Blue: a vintage ring I bought with a blue stone in it.

I’m debating about the sixpence.  I’d never heard that part of it until recently.

Old – my diamond, New – my dress, Borrowed – my MoH to help me pee, Blue – a gorgeous ring that belonged to my Grandma. My MoH asked me what was borrowed and I was like, “You, to help me go to the bathroom.” She said “I don’t think it works like that.”

I have carefully orchestrated my somethings –

Old – my mother’s lace edge fingertip veil. *swoon*

New – my dress

Borrowed – I am leaving that up to the universe. If anything, I gave my mom a string of pearls for Mother’s day that she could loan me in a pinch.

Blue – Dude, everything! My ring, Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, one of our colors. My garter. My shoes
