what is your 4 somethings??
can i see pictures?
I don’t have any pictures but…
Something old: pearl earings Fiance gave me, and a ring he gave me years ago
Something new: dress, necklace, bracelet, veil, almost everything haha
something blue: got our names and wedding date sewn into the dress
something borrowed: picture frames for our memory table
Mine will be:
old – cross necklace i got in a street fair when i was about 13
new – dress
borrowed – hopefully my mum’s veil, if my cousin will lend it to me
blue – my garter, looks something like this:
my something new will be almost everything!! but here are my shooes since i havent decided on which of two dresses yet:
Fiance bought me these earring which are perfect, they will be my something blue, and topaz is the birth stone on the month we get married (he also bought me a necklace with the 7 lucky charms 4 being topaz and three being white gold and diamonds for this, saying that he wish the seven lucky things for our future together)
no idea on old or borrowed 🙁
Sorry, I don’t have pictures:
Old: My center diamond in my ring (FI family heirloom)
New: The Dress, shoes, hairpins, etc.
Borrowed: Diamond stud earrings (FI’s deceased grandmother’s earrings)
Blue: Still working on that one!
Something old: still working on it
Something new: dress, veil, shoes, headpiece lol, have this one covered!!
Something borrowed: still working on this one as well, and I’m running out of time!! lol
Something blue: I have an interesting garter belt that actually has 5 small glass vials on it…the something blue is from the unity ceremony we are doing. One of the sand colors is blue so filled one of the vials with the blue sand.
(couldn’t find a pic so here’s the link to where I ordered my garter:
Something Old: My Mother’s wedding band. It doesn’t fit her any more (age and arthritis!) and it didn’t particularly fit to start with. But it fits me like a GLOVE! I love that it is the symbol of their marriage, all of the troubles they have been through and how they are still going strong. It is also the biggest blessing they could have given my Fiance and I.
Something New: Dress/shoes.
Something Borrowed: My Mum’s garter! Though we aren’t doing a garter toss, it is a sweet, small, private gesture.
Something Blue: From my one of Dad’s blue shirts, a heart shaped patch will be taken, and sewen onto the back of my dress.
Something old: My nan’s family ring. It’s also blue.
Something new: Pretty much anything.
Something borrowed: My recently deceased future MIL’s bracelet. It’s currently in my daughter’s closet hung to watch over her. I will borrow it for the day.
Something blue: I will get the bridal party to sign the bottom of my shoes.
Something old: My mother-in-law land me a old (about 30 years of age) single gold earing in a heart shape that I have attached to my gartner. (Work as well for something barrowed)
Something new: Everything; the dress, the veil, the shoes…etc!
Something barrowed; The old heart shape single earing my mother-in-law land-me.
Something Blue: The ribbon on my gartner.
For the sixpences, I kept thinking about it but sixpences are quite difficult to find in Canada so I might be placing a 5 cents instead in my shoes for the whealth.
Something old: I have two- my wedding band, which has been in my mom’s family for over 100 years (i will be the third to wear it as a wedding ring) and my handkerchief, which has been in FI’s family for just as long and has patches of two other people’s dresses sewn on.
Something new: pretty much everything I’m wearing 🙂
Something borrowed: still working on this one- I’m hoping to get something from either my mom or my granny, but I don’t really know what…
Something blue: my engagement ring (has sapphires in it), and the handkerchief (one of the women who used it had a blue dress)
I love the amount of family history from both sides that will be with me on that day, just gotta get on that something borrowed bit, ugh!
I did all of them, too! But in Irish culture, it’s a “5 pence in your shoe”
My something new: dress and earrings
blue: blue lace thong
and old is this “magic hankey” my grandmother got me before I was born. It was my Christening bonnet, and my mom wrapped it up and gave it to me at my shower. It’s strange but, you start the poem on the right side then, then read the left-side pannel. Of course, I cried at my shower—and I wrapped it around my boquet for my wedding day.
blue-cardigan, old-grandmother’s brooch (also blue), skirt(made of vintage wedding dresses) new-shoes, earrings (also blue..there was a theme)borrowed-small bible that I wrapped with owl ribbon and another brooch from grandmother..I can go on..I really overdid it…
Boo, you can’t really see the bible…also, the date is wrong. sigh We tied the rings on the bible.
My old: My mom’s veil
My new: My bracelet
My something borrowed (actually more just stolen from the apartment that morning): DH’s old cowboy boots (for if it rained!)
My something blue: My garter
