- Wedding: September 2015 - Hotel Ballroom
We all know the old tradition. I need a little help. I am estranged from my family, and my future mother in law is deceased…so I don’t have much to draw one.
Something Old: I was thinking of using a piece of jewellery from my childhood collection…I had my eye on an anklet I wore a lot as a kid, but I could be talked out of it.
Something New: This one is in the bag! My coworkers got together and bought me a necklace to wear on my wedding day. They gave it to me as a birthday present.
Something Borrowed: I don’t have a clue….
Something Blue: My shoes! Which I already have.
What did you ladies do? Any suggestions for my something borrowed? Is my something old a good idea?

Thank you for reminding me to do this! I almost forgot 😛
Old: Great grandmother’s bracelet
New: Wedding dress & earrings
Borrowed: Grandmother’s cameo brooch to clip on bouquet
Blue: Other grandmother’s blue flower earring to clip onto something…also possibly my shoes

Your something old is perfect! I’m using an old baby brooch I had when I was a baby (one of those cute old ones with your name engraved on it).
For your something borrowed, is there jewellery of your MIL’s that any of her children/siblings have that you could borrow for the day? What about any aunties that you could borrow something small from?

My something old AND blue is an old star sapphire ring passed down to me from my great grandma.
My something borrowed is my FSILs veil that I’ll be using and my something new is my wedding band, or dress, or shoes. Haha

Something old: My dress – it’s a 1950’s vintage
Something new: my shoes
Something borrowed: I’m not sure! My mom has offered her wedding gloves/garter but I dunno.
Something blue: My SO wants to wear a blue suit 🙂

Old: grandma’s pearls (now mine so not borrowed)
New: dress, shoes, ring, whatever
Borrowed: nothing that I know of, since I didn’t really try. If I stretched it, I could say my mother’s time in making my headpiece or something
Blue: aquamarine stone in my ring. Also mom stuck a blue feather under all the orange ones on my headpiece – her own choice, hah.
Maybe your mom or a good friend has a regular ring you could wear that day as well?

I uses my 4 dogs’ tags in my bouquet wrap for all four.

For your something borrowed, I would ask to use a family heirloom/piece of jewelry.
Something Old: Heirloom Diamond ring given to me by inlaws.
Something New: My diamond heart necklace DH gave me for the wedding
Something Borrowed: My aunt/godmother’s diamond ring
Something Blue: I wore blue sapphire and diamond halo earrings and there are blue diamonds in my wedding bands.
