I was with my high school boyfriend for nearly seven years. We were starting to talk about marriage when I was 17 or 18, and started really moving seriously in that dirrection when I was about 21, but the relationship didn’t work out. I’m 27 now, and talking about marriage with someone again, and I feel much more solid about it. I actually look back and think “oh god, I almost let my 15 year old self pick out the man I intended to spend the rest of my life with! yikes!!” Not that I don’t think some girls are successful with these younger relationships, I just think that sometimes choosing a prospective husband when you’re a little more mature is a better fountation for a lasting relationship. At the point where my So and I are and now, based on what we have discussed, I’ll likely be just about to turn thirty by the time we have our wedding. I feel great about it, because I feel like I’ll have a way stronger marriage than the one I would have had if I had gone through with it when I was younger.
