hey brilliant bees,
I’ve found so much great advice on this site already, I’m hoping maybe you guys can help me with this. I’d like my friend to sing something during our ceremony (sort of in place of a reading), but we’re having a hard time choosing a song. Our pianist would accompany her and he can do most anything, esp. jazz and standards. I don’t want anything religious, but mr. sunshine is worried that it’ll seem too random for her to sing something like "Fly Me to the Moon"; he’s suggested a few Jewish songs, but I’m afraid my side of the family won’t understand/appreciate them.
Any suggestions? Has anyone seen this done? Is it too weird, or can it work? She’s sung at weddings before, but usually something like Ave Maria, which wouldn’t be right for us. I’d like it to be something happy and upbeat, but would that be out of place in a ceremony? The ceremony is outdoors, but otherwise it’s a fairly formal wedding…hmmm. Any advice would be much appreciated!
