I was really picky when it came to important songs – like our first dance and my dance with my dad.  I love Adele and wanted to use a song of hers for our first dance – but they are all break up songs, or songs trying to get a guy to realize youre the one for him.

It just occurred to me how difficult a DJ’s job must be!  My brother DJs at weddings sometimes – I’ve earned a new respect for him. 😛

For me, I don’t want any songs about breaking up, heartbreak, someone dying, dead people, cheating, revenge, violence, etc.  No negativity.

In terms of content, no Blurred Lines…can’t think of too many other distasteful songs off the top of my head but that one’s the most current!

This thread reminds me of my Brother’s first wedding, the DJ (who was the Bride’s Uncle) was recently divorced (like 1 or 2 weeks prior).  They had offered to find someone else if was going to be too difficult for him, he declined and wanted to DJ the wedding.  Well, ALL night he played sad break-up songs.  It was awful and awkward.

@MoodyFoodie:  We just said to keep it mild, we have children attending and don’t need them going home with a fuller vocabulary. Other than that everyone is free to pick out whatever song they want 🙂

I think those over done dance songs are the best because they are the ones that you KNOW will get people on the dance floor!

“Lips of an Angel” by Hinder. It’s not romantic…it’s about an affair! That’s not how I want to start my marriage…

I don’t get why “Daughters” by John Mayer is such a popular father/daughter dance! He’s basically saying ‘This girl’s dad messed her up so much that she can’t trust men, so other dads, don’t mess your daughters up too!’

Oh, I also wanted to use the song “Mine” By Taylor Swift somehow, because that song just sums up our relationship (it actually came out around the time Fiance and I started getting serious), but the line ‘You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter’ really bothers me, since my dad is awesome! I had trust issues because of other males, not my dad!

I love “Key Largo” – “We had it all, just like Bogie and Bacall….”

We’re having a cinema wedding and we also have a huge age difference like Bogie and Bacall, but it’s about a guy wanting to get back together with his ex….so alas, not appropriate 🙁
