I am brand new to wedding bee.
We are thinking that my fiance and his 12 yr old daughter may do a father daughter dance, after my father and I.
We were also thinking that I may do a dance with my fiance’s 8 yr old son, after my fiance and his mother did the mother/ son dance.
Any suggestions on what would be an appropriate song to dance with my new 8 year old step son to without offending his Mom? We are close to the ex-wife and have a good relationship, so I would like to take her feelings into account

Could you maybe do a .. Family dance? That just seems like alot of time eaten up by individual dances …
Like James Taylor … you have a friend … or something like that?

That’s a lot of dances for guests to sit though if you do full songs. What about doing a more “neutral” song like ‘My Wish” by Rascal Flatts or “What a wonderful world” kind of thing and combine them? That way, it’s not a full on special moment, more of a “didn’t want to make the boy feel left out”/family dance.

Maybe with an 8 year old you could do something slightly faster then you prob run less of a risk of offending. That is really sweet of you to take her feelings into consideration.

Wow! You guys are really fast!! I’m amazed there are already responses!
We were thinking of doing dad and bride son earlier in the wedding. I had wanted to dance w/ my dad to the Cinderella/ Steve Chapman Song; and thought of splitting the song in half w my fiance and his daughter. My dad recently had a stroke and probably will have a hard time standing even w/ his walker for a full son.
Was kinda looking for a song we could do later, with mother-in law/ fiance, and then me and step son. Strange request, I know.

How about “You’ve got a friend in me” from the Toy Story movies. Plus stepson probably knows it.

My husband and I each have 13 year olds – I have a son and he has a daughter. We danced to Your Song by Elton John. It was really sweet.
