sarahgoett:  On vacation in Sonoma (Healdsburg) I went for a walk across the street from the house I rented and found a beautiful redwood forest.  My husband and I kept walking along and came upon the remnants of what was likely a wedding the night before, definitely a party of some sort, the flower arrangements were still out, string lights were still on and the ice hadn’t even melted yet.  It would be a great wedding venue.

I don’t know the name of the forest/park or any contact details for catering/management.  But I can tell you it was on Westside Road very near Porter Creek winery.  In fact I bet if you called Porter Creek they could point you in the right direction.

I’m getting married at Flying Cloud Farm in Petaluma. It is not necessarily “woodsy” but it is in the hills in Petaluma and surrounded by farmland. The venue has an equestrian areana attached and overlooks horse stables. It is not the woods, but very lush and green with a small vineyard on the property. There’s also the Inn at Occidental  http://www.innatoccidental.com/weddings.htm. Not sure about pricing, as affordable and Sonoma County don’t always go together! Hope this helps a little! Oh and I am from Santa Rosa, so I can answer any general questions if you have any!

I was going to recommend Griffith woods, such a beautiful venue!!

Red Barn Ranch has some vines around it but its a lovely rustic property that also includes some huge oak trees. No redwoods though! Also Brutocao Cellars which also has some vineyards but also oak trees, a pond, a barn, and you get it the whole weekend. Monte Rio Recreation and park district has some beautiful inexpensive venues on the river and in the redwoods too!
