@NotablySidedJP:  at least you get that! When I’ve been brave enough to bring it up I always get “we don’t have any money so we shouldn’t even be discussing this”

My Fiance referred to engagement as “something in the distant future” THE DAY WE GOT ENGAGED. You can’t trust a man!

@laughs:  tell me about it! SO isn’t the kind of guy to tell me a specific timeline or let me know when he has the ring. He is HUGE on the fact that is HAS TO BE A COMPLETE SURPRISE!

So, I’m basically in the dark. I’m crossing my fingers for our anni in June!

At least you have a soon! I just asked my SO last night if I could get an estimated time of engagement, and he basically said no. So I rolled over and went to sleep, UGH. Boys are dumb.

My SO and I also seem to have differing definitions of soon….

@NotablySidedJP:  Totally agree: I’ve been hearing “very soon” for two years.  Back in February I didnt bring it up for like 3 days and on day 4 he came home from work and said we needed to talk.  I was like “oh great, he’s going to dump me”.  BUT he actually said “I want to know your thoughts on getting engaged in the next 6 months and if thats ok with you.”  August 18th is the 6 month mark and i’m STILL not holding my breath.

Lol yes! XD Soon for the men I know seems more like “before I’m retired”, soon for me would be “in the next few months”.

It’s not even just in the case of getting engaged or married XD

Early on in the waiting process my SO learned the problem with using “soon”. One day I snapped and told him that when he means soon clearly he means relative to the heat death of the universe. I think I got my point across there!

Haha, ‘soon’ should be a swear word!
