SO is technically still billed as an intern at his current place of employ, but was offered a full-time job there a while ago, to start the Monday after he graduates (so, May 9th). He makes a paltry earning right now as an intern and although they never pitched him any benefits, 401k info, or pay raise, we assumed that in some form or another that would all come with the territory of being a full-time regular employee. He hasn’t yet formally accepted the position, so the ball is in his court. Today he emailed his boss (who is never in the actual office, so he couldn’t just go see him in person) to enquire about all of these things.
If SO gets a raise…even a little one…this engagemet train is going to be moving on a lot faster than it has been. Money is his #1 hangup because he doesn’t want to get engaged without being able to support ourselves comfortably. But if he gets a raise, and I keep my current job or find something similar (I’ll be having that chat with my boss in a couple weeks)…it’s gonna happen soon.
If he doesn’t get the raise…I don’t know. We will barely be able to make ends meet month-to-month, let alone worry about a ring/wedding/marriage.
Cross your fingers for me!
