Now that I have decided what bridesmaid dress I want all of my girls to wear (http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-and-Organza-Gown-with-Beaded-Inset-F12385_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Shop-By-Color), when should they order? I know someone else posted this question but I’m only curious because
a) the dresses are at DB and I’m not sure if and or when they will be discontinued
b) my wedding isn’t until 11.11.11 but I love these
c) one of my bridesmaids in specific acted like anything above $75 was criminal and this dress is $170. Would it be fair to ask them to order now because I know one of them said she would soon but I’m worried that the girl in specific would get offended if I asked her to get hers soon as well (I know the other three could swing). This girl says she can only afford something cheap but yet goes out and buys $60 shoes and I just don’t want to get into it with her as she is my brothers gf.

personally i think its a bit early to order now, how long ago did u tell them they were gonna be bridesmaids? not all of them may have the money now! i think you should set a deadline and giv them fair notice to come up with the money

It’s a fairly basic style, so I’m sure DB will either keep it in stock or have something very, very similar available. Generally, ordering 5-6 months before the wedding is plenty–people tend to gain and lose weight, and you don’t want an ill-fitting dress. Most Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses only take 6-8 weeks to come in, so I’d personally wait. 🙂
Tell your problem bridesmaid, “This is the dress, please order it,” when the time comes and don’t let her bully you. If she can’t afford it, she can step down.

Thanks guys! I feel a little more comforted knowing that I don’t have to make them squeeze the budget dry. I’ll just tell them all to wait to buy it because I know one of them wanted to buy it in like a month and if the others wait I’m worried it’ll get discontinued by then.

I think it is probably a bit early too…just in case people gain or lose weight or even if you change your mind! It will give your girls more time to save too, although I would let them know the price range you are looking at so they know what to expect when the time comes.

I would hold off on ordering quite yet. You’ve got plenty of time and the style is something that you could easily find somewhere else if it were for some reason discontinued at DB. I would also hold off because YOU may change your mind. I’ve changed my mind countless times on details for our wedding. Everytime I am thankful that I never committed to anything because I would definitely have regretted some of my initial choices. That being said, I think this is a great dress and it is very classic, so it being discontinued shouldn’t be a worry of yours. As for the bridesmaid, there are very, very few Bridesmaid or Best Man dress that are under $70. I would talk with her. She has PLENTY of time to save up for the dress and still have it ordered on time.

Depending on what color you want. The extended colors need at least 3 months, I believe it was, to insure arrival. Their core colors are 2 months orders. At least that’s what they told me.
