Conversation with SO started with me trying to explain about how I wasn’t only frusterated with not being engaged/married yet, but that I felt totally helpless because such a huge decision was out of my control. I’m not the type of girl to just wait on a guy to make decisions/ move things forward. We ended up having a really good talk, and he told me it’ll come “sooner than you think.” He told me my definition of “soon” is different than his (ie. not 3 months), but that he does have a plan, and he is thinking about it. He also said he understood where I was coming from with it being out his my control, but that this is his chance to really sweep me off my feet and plan something special, and he does want it to be a surprise!
Soooooooo, I’m really happy about this conversation. Since I know our “soon” definition is different, I know I”ll still have a little wait on my hands, but I’m happy that he is atleast thinking/planning. Yay!

I totally understand how you feel. When my SO said really, really soon, I thought like next week, he aparently thought a couple months. Guys seem to have a totally different perspective on the word “soon”

@LadySmurph: haha men are like that. He’s the kinda guy who’s always late. So, if he says 5 minutes, it means 15. If he says soon, it mean soonish lol!

I get frustrated with my SO for the same reason. We were going to get engaged today aafter he told me he’d buy the ring “soon,” which basically turned out to mean “when we build snowmen in hell.” When I say soon I mean now, in a week, or something reasonable. His soon has more wiggle room.
hopefully in your case, this will happen closer to yor idea of “soon!”

Yay! That’s a very good sign. Now sit back and wait for the magic to happen. :p

My SO and I have had the same conversation…about three times a week. It’s sooo frusterating. We have been together for four years now, he said a few more months won’t kill me but I think it will! Lol. He says he’s ready, he has the money…GAAAHHHH I’m getting driven crazy. Hopefully it’s more of my version of soon.

I’m glad you had a good conversation! I really think men should be banned from using the word soon because they clearly don’t know what it means. If my SO tells me soon one more time I might lose it 😉 At least over time I have begun to crack his code…he says we will be engaged soon so my bet is Christmas time which doesn’t feel soon to me and he has been saying soon since August!
