@Firenze:  good luck with this.  i would be a bit concerned b/c your contract states the end time as TBD.  that is too vague.  keep us updated.

I get what you are saying, I had this same question as well. However, for some (I’m guessing not all) venues the ceremony time is included in your time block. Even if you are paying extra for that specific ceremony time and usage it is still included. It was for my venue as well and I know it has been for many others I know. This isn’t anything unique.

@Treejewel19:  This has been my experience as well.

My other thought is, they really should be negotiating with you at the very least.  Is another party going to book right after yours, after 8pm on a Thursday?  I don’t think so.  They are either going to make a little extra from you or make nothing extra at all.

I hope they at least try to resolve this with you, I’m sorry it’s stressing you out.  🙁

@Firenze:  Yes, unfortunately.

We had to pay a fee for the ceremony and then a fee for the reception. While the reception timeblock was labeled reception the ceremony was included within that time block. As I mentioned this is pretty typical for quite a few venues…at least the ones I looked into and the one we used.

I do completely agree that the additional fee is ridiculous. And as@Luv2BeachIt: said you might have leverage if they cannot book a wedding/event after yours. I am guessing you will have to pay something for the extra time (they have to pay their employees to stay longer…) but see if they will negotiate the price with you.

I would suggest when she does respond to your email and you do nail down the timing you originally thought you had, to have it amended in the contract. The TBD is concerning but hopefully they will work with you on that. Especially if you paid separately for a reception and a ceremony.

I would also loop caterer 1 in even further. Though a verbal contract isn’t as good as a written contract about this, it’s better than nothing. Because this is as much her fault for not coordinating with their own caterer to ensure their client (you) was happy with the timing.

Best of luck with this, try to stay calm and be as sweet as possible when speaking with them. Even though you want to throw things! 😉

That stinks! Those prices are ridiculous but I’m from another area so I’m not sure what the going rates are… The whole contract seemed a bit confusing anyway.

If it makes you feel any better I’m kind of going through the same thing with my vendor. They are discussing things in the contract that were not gone over in the initial and second meetings. Things like event insurance and the fact that someone has to clean up afterwards. Um, what exactly are we payingthousands of dollars for?

I hope everything works out! Your wedding sounds fabulous by the way 🙂
