So after now trying 54 dresses, i’m more confused than ever! I want a dress w a sweetheart neckline, dropped waist and very fitted on the top, and to flare out after the dropped waist with still quite a bit of skirt poof so it looks bridaly! So NOT a fit-and-flare….The Sophia Tolli Jillian “apparently” has these features but I’m worried that if I order it in my size it will look different than the sample I tried on. I’ve included some pics from trying it on, twice! Back is not shown, its all clamps….Do you have any pics of this to post!?
SO THE WORRY: stock size is 10 and I need to order a 2 – I love the way it looks in these pics, when it’s clamped, but I’m worried the bottom of the dress will be very different in my size. It’s meant to be a “fitted A-line” and the bridal shop has assured me that it’s not too tight around the bum, they said other girls have bought the dress and it’s not a fit-and-flare. But look at the model pic, it totally looks tight and doesn’t flare out until under after the bum! I was told the pic is somewhat deceiving from the dresses they have seen come in…. I’d like it flare at the point it does in my sample pics, not like the model, and a bit poofier like it is on me – but will it!??
What should I do? Take the word of the bridal shop and hope it comes in not too fitted? ….Or keep looking? I do love the dress, just hesitant due to the model pics….need to decide soon as my wedding is 5 months away and they just happen to have a size two in the warehouse, otherwise it wont come in time. I was also considering pronovias Dagen which is def less fitted but seems to be what i want, just no sparkly bits!
**Can anyone help? Do you have a pic of this Sophia dress in the proper size or even a couple sizes off? Anyone have this dress!? **
Or perhaps someones knows – if it comes too fitted around my bum can i let it out? I know they can take it in, but can they do the reverse!? Or perhaps one of those poofy underskirts, would that work?
Thanks so much for your advice!! sarah

I think it should be more trumpet-like. Here are some others wearing it (and the sample fit them):
1-2 sizes too big Not sure, but looks like a perfect fit
Too small, I think? Very big
If you’re still too wary, try Enzoani Dabra, Fatima, Erin or Farlow:

@MlleFabuleux: Thanks soooo much for your help! It really is hard to know and the bridal store assured me it’s not trumpet, so it’s tough to know….many people want that look and will get it taken in if it’s not too fitted, i want the opposite ha ha
Those are great ideas you posted….I love the Dabra and Fatima dresses, but no one has them in my area to try on. Not keen on the belt it Dabra belt, but the rest is lovely.
tough call and appreciate your advice – i’m gonna visit the shop and ask about letting it out if it comes in too tight. no clue if it’s even an option!
thanks again : )

I’ve got an Enzoani Erin and I think the fit is perfect. It doesn’t have beading like the dress you’re looking at, but it’s incredibly similar everywhere else lol

Oh that’s gorgeous! I haven’t seen that one before, but will look it up!! is it assymetrical, or it’s just the way your hand is sitting on the dress?
so pretty : )

@sarah_CA: It’s asymmetrical! It’s from a year or so ago, so you may not find many. I’m actually selling mine after my wedding (in TEN days! Crazy!). But it’s a great dress. Nice and flowy, lace and tulle so it’s romantic and pretty but I don’t find it overly feminine. Anyway, here are a couple more pictures.
From when I first tried it on. I was crying lol
I had just put it on and actually had it sitting up too high in this one lol but you can kind of see the asymmetry. I seem to always have a hand in the way though.
You can see the material better here, but that hand is still in the way lol

It’s so gorgeous on you- I say go for it! I’m sure it could be let out a bit if need be? I love the fit on the model- I think the more fitted would look fab on you, but either way it is stunning:)

I tried the dress on last weekend, It was the top contender. I’m wearing a size 14 which seems to fit me well, accept across the stomach but would just need to lose a few pounds and it would fit right.

@little_d: thanks so much!! I’ve tried on lots of trumpet gowns, its just not the style i’m looking for – i’d like a bigger skirt with a bit of poof if that makes sense ha ha. Maybe i can get some extra layers under, we’ll see : )

@shopaholic85: Oh it looks lovely!! and my goodness, it’s totally not so fitted around the butt/hips hey!? why does the model pic look so different….
I also noticed that the part where the assymetrical lace “splits open” (the point that has the most tulle) is in a totally different location, it’s more to the side on me and more at the front on yours and the other pics!
Thanks for posting this, so helpful to see. Let me know if you chose it : ) good luck deciding!

If you can wait till Sunday I can give you a good idea of the fit. I bought Sophia Tolli Pacifica, which has that same cut at the hips that the yours has, but when I tried on the sample size 12 I think, it didn’t do that at the hips and they assured me it doesn’t actually fit that way. I also needed to order a size 2 and I have to have it altered down some more.
My dress came in last week, I’m going to pick it up and bring it home on Sunday, I’m SO EXCITEDDDDD!!!!!!!!
