A bit early, but DH and I opened gifts last night because he wanted me to be able to use mine on Christmas.
I had been talking about a command start for my vehicle (which I REALLY thought he would be getting) or a pandora bracelet. Instead I got a Nikon D3200 DSLR camera!!
I’ve been saying for quite a while that I’d like to upgrade from a point and shoot and try out a DSLR and DH would always reply, “You have a fairly new camera (couple years old), you don’t need a new one!” Totally did not see this one coming!
Anyone else get something completely different then what you’ve been hinting at? Or did you get exactly what you thought you would?

It was for Hanukkah, not Christmas, but dh got me a bracelet and a pair of slippers. I was surprised and I have been getting a lot of use out of both since!

Let me tell you a story.
FH and I are very poor right now, so we made an agreement. Christmas presents this year would be only whatever you could fit in a stocking. This would limit us by amount and size, and would help keep things fair because FH is the one-upper of the century.
So I go to his apartment, he sets up a video camera for some bizarre reason, and brings out this:
(He was so proud, he took this picture beforehand. For size comparison, the green and smaller red packages are both rolled-up, oversized sweat pants. The entire stocking is a little less than 4 ft long.)
I played by the rules and felt so dumb! Here’s my stocking as compared to his.
My reaction in the video is hands covering face, alternating between “I hate you! You’re such a jerk!” and “Gosh I love you” and laughing. It’s so him. He can’t do anything the normal way. He is a chronic overachiever. I kind of just have to get used to paling in comparison – but at least he’s obsessed with the new watch I gave him so I don’t feel like a total Christmas failure :3

We opened our presents to each other at midnight. I was totally blown away by what he got me! The biggest surprise is the ICE CREAM MAKER!! So awesome. The most meaningful is the new necklace with a crescent moon pendant. Our song is “I’m Your Moon” by Jonathan Coulton.

He did a wonderful job. I opened one present Christmas Eve morning, one Christmas Eve and the last one this morning. Two pairs of dangly earrings that i would NEVER have bought myself (i usually stick to just hoops) and a new right hand ring with my birthstone.
I love the ring so much i went out this AM (yikes we needed Toilet paper) and got new blue/silver sparkly nailpolish to match the silver/blue ring!!!!!

I can’t believe how tight he got those sweat pants rolled!!

I did expect it, but he gave me a scare. Every gift I opened was mundane cleaning supplies with a sticker that said “sorry try again” just as I was giving up he brought down my real present which was a new keurig and a tonnn of accessories and drinks. woo hoo!

My Fiance did an awesome job this year and totally surprised me. He really put a lot of thought into my gifts this year!
On Christmas Eve, he gave me a Winnie the Pooh picture from the Hallmark Store that said “If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.” I totally cried when I opened it up.
He also gave me a huge set of vegan Lush cosmetic products, some nice slippers, and an insulated mug for my coffee. I’m one lucky gal!

Well, we agreed on not on exchanging gifts, and I see FOUR for me wrapped under the tree. So, no, he didn’t play by the rules. Whether I expected him to, I’m not sure.

He’s spent almost all of Dec in hospital so hasn’t got me any gifts. I know he feels guilty, but I feel so blessed to have him home this week and we managed to get to church this morning. I don’t need presents this year 🙂
