You need to stop shampooing so much. My hair gets dry, too, and my stylist recommended not shampooing for several days in a row. I average about 3-4 days without shampooing. Now, that’s not for everyone, I know, but shampooing 2 times a day sounds like WAY too much.

When I shower I rinse and massage my scalp as if I am shampooing. This usually gets that gross feeling out. But your hair needs its natural oils to remain healthy, oils that shampooing so much removes. I always condition, no matter what, and if my hair is feeling especially dry I leave it in. I use an all natual conditioner, which eliminates the buildup, espicially if I leave it in.

I’d look into dry shampoos, if my no shampoo route grosses you out. Def. not a good idea to be shampooing that much, though.

I suggest trying Argan oil/ moraccan oil. It’s like a super conditioner. It’s amazing. I use the garnier one.

Also, STOP washing your hair more than 3 times a week. It’s especially damageing to hair in cold weather. during the winter I do it maybe twice a week.

Look into dry shampoo too.

Basically you need to change the PH balance of your hair. The more you wash it the more it produces the oils that make it look greasy. I’d even go so far as suggesting the no poo method. Basically, don’t use shampoo.

Just saw that water rinse wasn’t helping. I would def. get a really good conditioner, and use it every time. Also, a good hair oil helps. I like Garnier.

Have your eating habits changed? Lack of fat in your diet can make your hair blah.

@berybery:  Definately try the hair oil then! I can’t tell you how good it makes my hair feel, and I had super dry extra frizzzy hair before. Now it barely frizzes up. and if it does, I just put the oil on my dry hair and it works like a charm.

Agreed! LESS shampoo!! Does your head get so sweaty that you have to wash or could you put your hair up or in a shower cap when you hop in the shower? If it does get sweaty, I would reccomend a dry shampoo. My favorite is TIGI Dirty Secret. I would buy one to try from a store with a good return policy. I didn’t really like Tresemme one I tried so I was able to bring it back.

I only shampoo my hair 2-3 times a week. It might take a while to get used to, but your hair needs its natural oils that you’ve been washing away, hence the dryness!

@HelleCat:  Agreed. That hair oil was one of the best things I found! I put it on before styling, and I keep some stashed in my desk at work for humid days when my hair wants to act up!

@berybery:  I completely agree with all the advice on here but also, try taking some fish oil and up your vitamin b and folic acid intake. it can’t hurt and it’ll help your hair grow.

@littlemisst08:  Lol, that stuff is worth its weight in gold.

I even cut my hair…a whole 1.5 feet off! So I’m using my hair oil and masks and everything. Taking vitamin suppliments for hair and nails.

I’m making a point to growing it out now and making sure it stay healthy.
