I didn’t buy “sharon” from a boutique so I’m visiting a seamstress in a couple of weeks and hoping to get a price for hemming & train removal.
She has indicated it will be expensive as it has a lace scalloped edge. I did try this dress on in a shop and they told me the edging is removed, the length altered and then the edging is replaced. I’ve heard elsewhere that the entire lace overlay has to be lifted.
Has anyone had similar alterations to a lace overlay dress and how much do you think this will cost? If I had bought it from the shop it would have cost £35 per hour for alterations but as this lady works fromn home, Im thinking the hourly rate will be less.
I’m hoping not to pay more than £350 – is this wishful thinking!!?
