My wedding ceremony is going to be outside, and we had planned to rent a sound system to be sure everyone can hear. We expect around 175 guests to attend. However, on my last site visit with my wedding planner, she said that getting a sound system is pointless, because it can be windy which just causes feedback on the mics. I am really worried about people not being able to hear the ceremony – I have sat through other outdoor ceremonies where I couldn’t hear the sound, and it’s awful. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!!

I hate going to outdoor ceremonies where you can’t hear anything! I suggest using a small amp & a plug in mic. Something small, minimal effort, where if it is useless, you didnt put too much time or money into it. If someone you know plays guitar, they should have an amp, and maybe if you know a singer, they’ll have a mic you can borrow.

@bellinghausen: There are mufflers for mics to prevent feedback from the mics. otherwise none of your guests will hear anything. What a rubbish planner! Talk to your DJ to see what they suggest or if they can set up a small amp during the ceremony for a fee.

Our DJ provided a microphone and speakers. It was windy and we had no feedback. I would definitely recommend something though so people can hear you.

@bellinghausen: Yup, our DJ took care of this as well for us. He even managed outdoor music in the rain! (We had a tent 😉

Our DJ took care of it for us as well. They had one mic on Darling Husband and one mic on our officiant friend. It worked out great!

That’s weird, your guests won’t be able to hear anything! My husband was mic’d by the videographer and his mic picked up both of us enough for everyone to hear. Had he not done this, our DJ would have included it in his services. Definitely talk to your DJ!
