I am good at planning the pretty, sparkly parts of the wedding but the sound system… beyond me. We are having an outdoor wedding at something close to a fair site, I guess would be the best way to describe it. The ceromony will be like 500 yards away from where the reception will be. We were originally going to have a band and a DJ, but now may jsut do a band and an IPOD for the breaks.
- How did you all rig your preacher up so everyone could hear the ceromony? We do have electricity available.
- If we were to skip the DJ, who did the rest of you have do the announcing? Like, the entrance of the wedding party, first dance, etc etc.

Hi there! I am also doing the outdoor thing, but our officiant will not be mic’d. Since it’s sort of a natural amphitheatre, we have no need for that. He’ll just have to project!
Also, we’re doing the iPod thing, no band, etc. I would talk to the venue and see who others have worked with in the past for audio rental. I guarantee you there is someone in your town who rents audio equipment, and they definitely will have a battery-powered, clip-on mic for your officiant. They’ll be able to walk you through everything you need from mixers to cables.
We are asking a friend to do the party-announcing (we will have a mic for that). He’s very funny and outgoing and the guests will be entertained by him (and not bossed around).

amazon is a great place to browse for amplifiers. Use a portable generator to power if needed.
