@Whitwhit1689:  I don’t really have any advice, but it can happen and you can lose too much weight.  I ended up getting a second dress because I was having doubts (especially the cost) about having my first dress altered after losing 35lbs.  I ended up getting a second dress for a couple hundred dollars more than it would’ve cost me to alter the first one.

I have to have my dress altered regardless. My bust is a 2, waist is a 0, and hips is a 4….so needless to say, the dress didn’t fit at all. LOL. I’ve already lost 8lbs from the time I ordered it and I’m expecting another 6-7lbs before June because I’m stressed from my work at my pediatric hospital AND teaching at a local university….all while planning a wedding & being chair of a committee at my peds hospital. Phew. I took on way too much before the wedding but it was a now or never opportunity.

I’m having my first dress fitting next week so we can get the majority of the alterations done before my 2nd fitting in April and final in June.

I ordered my dress last August and it just came in now. I went to try it on this past weekend and it was huge! The girl told me not to lose too much more weight before my fitting in the beginning of April but I’m still working out and eating well before then cause I don’t want to lose my momentum!

@Whitwhit1689:  Yes, definitely.  Because my first dress was an asymetrical, organza, ruched dress, and due to where I lost the weight (waistline), they were going to have to take apart the bodice and re-sew it together.  For the cost, it just seemed a little too risky for me, especially since I was starting to doubt my first dress choice.  That complied with the fact that my body filled out the dress differently, really convinced me to get a second dress.  Luckily, the shop that I purchased my second dress from gave me store credit for my old dress.

I actually struggled with this. I know fo sho I am not going to lose much weight (love food too much), but I’m running a ton now… what if I lose it in like  April before my June wedidng, then gain it back if I fall back into bad habits?

Ugh silly when you think about it I guess.

I am a little worried about this!  I tend to drop several pounds any time that I am either super busy or super stressed…and leading up to my wedding, I have a feeling that I may be experiencing both of those things!  So yeah, it is a bit of a concern.

The one thing I have going for me in this regard is that I don’t HAVE much weight to lose…I am 5’8″ and only 120ish pounds to begin with, so there are not many pounds that I could actually drop (unless I was starving, but believe me, the world will implode before THAT will ever happen).  The most I’ll lose from busyness/stress is probably 5 pounds, which I am hoping will not drastically affect the fit of my dress.  Fingers crossed that no last-minute alterations will be needed!  My game plan for leading up to the wedding consists of giant bowls of spaghetti, lots of chocolate, and expensive cheese.  Oh, and wine.  LOTS of wine.  🙂

I am actually afraid of this as well. I got my dress a little smaller than I measured to account for this though. I am hoping I lose just enough weight to fit in it perfectly and if I do lose to much weight I should not have to get it altered down more than one size. You never want to get a dress with detail altered more than two sizes so I am ok with that.

I’m really afraid of this.  I’m a 6 in the bust, a 0-2 in the waist and a 4 in the hips, so my dress is a 6.  We had to tighten the corset basically all the way shut just to get it to look okay the last time I tried it on, and I’ve lost 5 pounds since then.  I’m probably going to have to have some major alterations done if I don’t stop losing weight.

I completed Insanity! last fall without the diet plan and my weight/size stayed the same. If you’re worried about losing too much, just do the workouts & eat to your heart’s content.

If you’re really happy with the way your body’s changing and you can afford the alterations, keep doing what you’re doing & just go see the seamstress if you need, come september.
