Mine is so weird and stems from when I was a kid, but I still hate it – someone running their fingers along the plastic cover on a hardcover library book – UGH it squeaks and instantly makes me shudder. I get the chills even thinking about it!
I also HATE that loud glug glug glug swallowing. Gross.

I work at a small store in a strip mall – the store two down from us is a large discount merchandise store. We all leave our doors open to the hallway and since the store in question is larege, they have a very big almost garage door type opening.
Anyway, their security system has been broken for about 2 weeks and it beeps CONSTANTLY. it almost sounds like the scanner at the grocery store all. day. long. They have promised they are getting it fixed, but its driving me nuts!

Glad someone else can relate. 🙂

Ah, how about ringtones. No matter what they are. In public places. Especially places where they echo (like shopping malls). AKEjr;lakj;flaskdjf!!

You know when you accidentally scrape your knife or fork against the plate when you’re trying to cut up your food? Yea, that sound makes me want to die. Also the sound of metal against metal. Like if my pots/pans or utensils scrape against the stainless steel sink. *shudder*

Oh god the accidental scrape is THE WORST!! O_O!!!!!!

I can’t handle crunching/chewing sounds when they’re over the phone. Like, if you’re eating a salad next to me in real life, I’m fine. But if I’m talking to you on the phone while you eat it, I’m going to flip out and hang up on you. DH always used to call me while he was eating lunch and after the 23849713th time I straight-up hung up on him, he finally got the memo! DO NOT CHEW DIRECTLY INTO MY EAR, ASSHOLE.

I can’t stand when people scrape the fork on their teeth while eating. Yuck!

Styrofoam squeaking. Also, the sound that occurs when someone rubs their finger across a balloon and it squeaks. Those two sounds just make my skin crawl!

@icanhearyousmile: So many! I hate chewing noises, tapping or flicking fingernails, other people’s music through headphones, loud talkers on public transport, drumming pens/fingers on desks, and nail biting.

Slurping. I don’t know why, but my boss is incapable of drinking tea quietly. He slurps, and I have to turn on music to prevent me from RAGING. And my Father-In-Law sat down with I think a glass of wine near us while we were doing a puzzle over Christmas, and he kept slurping that… I understand a little, drinking isn’t always silent, but COME ON. So disgusting!

I agree with pretty much all of the above! But whistling is mine. It doesn’t matter who it is or what they are whistling, it always gives me the creeps.

@icanhearyousmile: I absolutely HATE it when people make noises when they eat. Like they slurp or make clicking noises. So gross. It drives me crazy. Sometimes I need to leave the room.
