I see this was posted a month ago, so I’m sure you’ve already made your plans (or at least given up on getting a response!)

Anyway, I think giving yourself 3 weeks to try and see all these places (including Costa Rica?!) is setting a suicidal pace. I used to live in Peru (in 2002) and traveled alone throughout SA in 2002 & 2004. South America is HUGE and distances between places are deceptively long. Even if you planned on flying everywhere, you would find yourself spending more time en route than actually enjoying a place. And if you’re planning on taking buses (and there are some nice bus lines in SA, so it’s not a bad way to travel if you have the time), it would be impossible.

If I were you, I would choose one area–either Brazil/Argentina or Peru/Ecuador. And since you’re getting hitched in November, and I’m assuming taking a honeymoon in Nov./Dec., I would go to Argentina and then work your way up through Uruguay and Brazil, since it will be early summer there, and the weather will be lovely. Where you go/don’t go totally depends on what you like to do, and what your comfort level in terms of traveling is. I would spend a few days in Buenos Aires, maybe do some side trips, then head up through Uruguay and hit some beaches, go north to Curitiba (nice, but not worth much of a stop), make a side trip to Foz do Iguacu (definitely worth a trip to see the waterfalls), and then carry on to Rio de Janeiro (via Sao Paulo if you like big cities) for a few days and fly out of there. That could easily use up 3 weeks, but it wouldn’t be too stressful.

Don’t get me wrong–a trip to Peru/Ecuador would be great too (I used to live in Lima, and love it there), but for a honeymoon, I would do Brazil + Arg. (way more romantic!). Hope you have a wonderful trip with your new hubby!
