Fiance and I are considering taking our honeymoon in south Florida/Islamorada in mid October. I need some advice. How is the weather there at that time of year? Rainy? Dry? Warm? Hot? I have no idea what to expect, or if it’s a bad idea to visit there at that time.
Also, I’d love any suggestions for resorts in the area.

I lived in miami and it was cold, well, Florida cold that time of year. Mid 50’s with wind. You should check farmers almanac.

I live on the west coast, an hour from Tampa, and October is generally fairly warm that time of year. Sure, you have a cold snap from time to time, but it can reach the 80s. The farther south you go, the warmer it gets. Islamorada will probably be fairly warm without being scalding hot. If you aren’t from FL, you’ll probably find it quite warm! Later in October the rain lessens up a little. It’ll probably still be a little humid, but you won’t have evening rainshowers anymore. Also, hurricane season is usually over, if not about to end by October, so it’s safe to stay in a beach resort.

theatrejulia: Hm, that makes me nervous.
MrsMeowton: Thanks for the insight!
I’m mostly worried about getting hit by a hurricane! It seems that the sources I’ve seen online all suggest different things.

Any other insights from other Bees?

Could be anywhere from 80s-60s during the day, you just never know! But unless a cold snap comes through the averages are generally in the upper 80’s. So I’d count on it being warm and fairly humid.

It will almost certainly be warm/hot. It would have to be incredibly unlucky to be chilly. My wedding was in Orlando in January and happened to fall on the only day that got below 60 degrees. You should be fine in south Florida in October.
That’s the end of hurricane season so, again, you’d have to be very unlucky to see nasty weather.
I don’t know if this link will work, but it says that the RECORD lows (aka the coldest it’s ever been) are still in the 60s and 70s, lol.

Okay, great. I’m feeling a little better about our honeymoon plans!
