Oh wow, that’s a tough one.  Ive only been to Peru in South America, and did the Inca Trail, it was amazing, but not relaxing… definitely and adventure and immersed into a different culture.  Especially doing the Inca Trail and spending 4 days with the guide, you learn a lot about Peruvian history and lifestyle.

I’ve been to Cambodia and Thailand and loved that also.  The war museum in Siem Reap is a real eye opener to Cambodia history and rough time they went through.  I was so touched by the guides story and his personal experiences during that reign.  Angkor Wat is amazing.  Thailands beaches are great too, but most the ones that tourist would visit is quiet tourist, but still beautiful.

If I HAD to pick one, since you have 3 weeks, I’d go to Asia since that’s a longer flight.  Then visit S.America at another time that you have a lot of time off, or even do each of those places one at a time since the flight is so much shorter.  We managed to do a Peru trip in 10 days and it was a good amount of time.

I would go South America – i spent 3 months there & loved every moment of it. You can make it as busy or relaxing as you wish.

I have also been to Thailand many times so maybe i’m ‘immune’ to its beauty!

We’re doing 3 weeks in SE Asia for our honeymoon in late Aug – early Sept.  We actually originally wanted to do Vietnam and were totally commited to it until we found out it was monsoon season!

You should do some research on TripAdvisor and see what places float your boat… are you looking for adventure or pampering?  Are you willing to get vaccinations for the trip?  What kind of weather are you wishing for?  How many different destinations in each place would you visit?

I LOVE planning travel – my Fiance and I have been all over the world and love to discover new places.  Let us know what you decide and why!  I’d love to hear more!

I was raised in Peru, so if you need any tips on that country don’t hesitate to ask me! There are also beautiful beaches there and a HUGE beach culture so if that is what you are looking you can find it there!!!

Southeast Asia! I am dying to go to South America, but Southeast Asia is awesome. I’m kind of obsessed with it. I love Asian culture, Asian food, Asian hospitatlity, and I know I would love Southeast Asian beaches (though, I never made it to one!).

Please go to Southeast Asia, and post your photos!! πŸ™‚

I think SE Asia is more relaxing in the sense that there are a lot of beautiful beaches there (and I mean, A LOT) and the countries are smaller, cater to honeymooners and tourists and so logistics should be easier. Cheaper, too. I imagine South America to be more of an adventure destination. πŸ™‚ A good middle ground might be Central America. It’s closer to the U.S. and has the things you’re looking for. πŸ™‚

If you decide on SE asia I would defiantly recommend you go to Hoi An in Vietnam it was our favourite place there. You hire bikes and cycle everywhere. It full of history but still has the relazing holiday beach feel. πŸ™‚

We did Thailand for our honeymoon!   We did a good part of our trip in Ko Samui on the beach and a long weekend in Bangkok and some time in Chiang Mai.  It was so much fun, great food, and nice people.   We did everything from the beaches, spas, scuba and snorkeling, elephants, zipline, hiking, and biking.  I highly recommend SE Asia.
