I’d like to buy a little hammered band to go in between my engagement and wedding rings for visual intrest. Neither ring has prongs or diamonds that will be rubbed with metal, but would the silver harm the gold or platinum? I don’t really care if the silver band would get worn or scratched becuase its easily replaced and doesn’t have sentimental value.

I think it depends largely on how and when you currently wear your rings, and how hard you are on them. If you don’t take them off and you are hard on your hands, I think you should have the same metal. If it were me, I would care most about the color of the metals, and whether they would be obvioulsy different. If they look pretty much the same, I would go with silver since I am usually very easy on my hands, and do more typing than anything else while my rings are on. When I am home and I am cleaning or doing dishes, my rings are off anyway.

I usually just wear my platinum wedding band–my stack would be for times when I’m out and about not at home when I’m cleaning. I don’t mind the color difference. I just don’t want to ruin my more expensive and sentimental 10K white gold engagement ring and platinum wedding band that I don’t wear together because I’m worried the platinum will “eat” the gold of the engagement ring like I’ve read about.

I have a platinum e-ring and wedding band. I wear a sterling silver spacer in between, and I have not noticed any problems.

You can also get 14k gold filled rings (tons on Etsy SUPER cheap). I had one a while back it was $11. Looked and felt great!
