Love, LOVE, L-O-V-E me some Spanx.  I have the Higher Power panties.  They’re so comfy, totally not kidding.  I also own a pair of the regular Power Panties, just not wearing them for the wedding.

Target has their own line of them made by the same woman that makes spanx! You should check those out first. While my mother really likes them, I have pretty curvy sides and my ribs stick out so I have a hard time keeping them up (and yes ive tried multiple sizes, I just have a short torso and protruding ribs) – the target line are fairly inexpensive ($20-$30) and will give you a good idea on whether or not you like them before buying the real thing!

for me personally, i dont get the hype. i bought a pair and have worn them a few times. i can’t tell any noticeable difference in the way my clothes fit. perhaps its bc i wore them under dresses. the one time i could say they came in handy was to smooth out my upper thighs when i wore a pair of ivory capris 2 Springs back.

i have the Spanx Higher Power panties. they come up to the bust and end down around mid thigh.

for me, i have had more success with traditional granny girdles. if your goal is to "smooth out" its a good option. if you want to decrease inches, i would go with something else.

I’ll be wearing them – not to make me skinnier, but so I don’t have underwear lines.  My dress is quite sheer and no one wants undies showing on their wedding day. 🙂

And by sheer I don’t mean see-through.  It’s silk and kind underwear lines are easy to see through it.

Lani, I’m in the same boat as you.  Silk sheath style dress.  The high waisted spanx are perfect for a smooth, no line look.  I tried a couple of traditional girdles and I just didn’t like the way they felt or looked.  I don’t think it made me look any skinnier, and I just felt like I was in a straight jacket.

I have them and love them.  My tiny warning:  They can get uncomfortable over a period of time.  I found found that they are perfect for church, dinner dates, etc. but after a full day of work, I want to cut them off of me.  Also, the pair I have tend to leave pretty deep seam lines on my body after extended wear.  I would completely encourage you to try them but wear them several times before the wedding!  Good Luck!

I’ve really enjoyed the pair I purchased. I think it’s important to break them in though at least once before your wedding day. Oh, and the lady who sold me my first pair said that if you’re on the cusp of a size, go one larger.

I bought a pair to smooth myself for a friend’s wedding and I must say that I LOVE my spanx… 🙂 I wear mine rather often now- for dressing up and what not. 🙂

I test drove a pair of the higher power panties at a wedding last night to see if I’d like them for wedding day, and overall it was positive.

However, they did get itchy after 6 hours or so, but I’m going to try either lotion beforehand or body powder beforehand before the wedding day to see if either solves the itchy problem. I loved not having to take them off for quick bathroom trips, unlike traditional control top pantyhose. Not messy at all and can see definite wedding day/bridesmaid dress advantages.
